Russian startup company StartRocket announced an idea for marketing campaigns in which the ads would be displayed in the sky.
The company plans to send in the orbit of the Earth a dozen CubeSat satellites with a size of 10x10x10 centimeters and to deploy them in a specific formation at a height of about 450 kilometers.
Thus, the deployed satellites would form an Orbital Display in which each satellite would represent one pixel that could be managed separately. The image would be created using mirrors located within the satellites, which would direct the sunlight to the Earth, which would form the surface as a large screen and would be seen in different parts of the planet.
The first celestial ads are expected for 2021, but it is necessary to collect all licenses for launching satellites before, something that despite the fundraising is a big challenge.
