It is still unknown whether Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have any system of random rewards that are bought with real money.
Recently, unofficial information has emerged that the weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be part of the so-called supply drops. This would mean that multiplayer component weapons could be bought with real money, and this automatically angered the player community. Activision did not deny the rumor, but now Infinity Ward development studio employee Joel Emslie has made the following announcement on Reddit:
"They continue to spread disinformation and misinformation about Modern Warfare. What I can say right now is that we are definitely NOT working on any kind of loot box system or supply drop. Also, all functional things are unlocked through GAMEPLAY. Have a little patience, more information is coming this week. "
So the game maker assures us that there will be no P2W elements in it, but we still don't know what that means at all. For example, if they definitely do not work on the loot box system now does not mean that they do not have it in the plan for the future. Also, if everything is unlocked through gameplay, does that mean that there is no other currency that could affect gameplay?
Activision is already known for its "no micro transactions" strategy for a month or two after the game is released, after which they are quietly put into play. The additional content and monetization systems in Modern Warfare have not yet been discussed, but it seems that these topics will still be touched on before launching the game for sale.
